About me

Hi, I’m Miranda Mills, MA, LPC, NCC, founder of Petal & Sage Counseling. I grew up in Kansas City and attended the University of Kansas, where I earned my undergraduate degree in Human Biology. Years later, after getting married, becoming a mother, and growing through many life changes, I went on to earn my master’s degree in Counseling from MidAmerica Nazarene University.

My passion for this work comes from both my professional training and my own lived experiences. Like many of the clients I support, I know what it can feel like to carry anxiety, depression, postpartum challenges, relationship struggles, financial stress, body image concerns, motherhood, and the emotional weight of life transitions while still trying to hold everything together.

These experiences have shaped the way I show up as a therapist—with warmth, compassion, and a deep understanding that life can feel overwhelming and isolating at times. They have also strengthened my desire to create a space where clients feel safe, seen, supported, and never judged.

At Petal & Sage Counseling, I work with children, women, couples, and families who may be feeling overwhelmed, disconnected, stuck, or unsure of what to do next. Whether I’m helping a child express emotions through play, supporting a couple in strengthening connection, or walking alongside an individual through personal growth, my goal is to provide therapy that feels compassionate, collaborative, and meaningful.

I believe healing happens when people feel safe enough to be honest, supported enough to grow, and encouraged enough to believe change is possible. At Petal & Sage Counseling, you do not have to carry it all alone.
